YES - It is me, after like a year of no blogging, I am back - for now :-) SO hard to keep up with this! Others are much better at it than me!
We have had a GREAT Memorial Day weekend and MK had her first big girl trip to the big pool - she was hard to control...could be a long summer!

Well, it's that time of the year again - and as Monica put it best on her blog, it's THE BEST time of the year! LOVED your blog on it Monica!
This year is different for many reasons. I am a Mommy now - at the beginning of last fall I could not truly say that. I feel this year, more than ever, the excitement of fall - the excitement of yelling "GO IRISH!" and having Macy Kate grunt with me in excitement over college football - the excitement of dressing her up for Halloween and just enjoying this phase of her walking and just being a part of our life - excitement of planning her 1st birthday party - excitement of the holidays with her being old enough to rip into gifts and just be a part of the festivities. All of this being the first of this, makes you look back on last year when she was here, but not really old enough to do anything - that leads to thoughts of post child-birth and the PPD I went through and then the thoughts go to Dad dying suddenly at her 5 wk mark and ALL that followed that....so the feeling of Fall goes from super excited, to remembering that day, almost 1 year ago, when my life was forever changed with the news of Dad dying. I am trying so hard not to think like that but it's hard - Dad will not see her turn one, he will not see her in her adorable Halloween costume, he will not PHYSICALLY see any of that but I know he is looking down from heaven but it's just so strange how life just goes on.....
If any of you have lost anyone close to you, VERY suddenly, then you know what I mean - you still can go back to that very moment when you were given the news and you can get lost in those feelings - I am so glad Fall is here, don't get me wrong, but the cooler the air gets the more I think of THAT day. But, because we worhsip an AMAZING God, I KNOW I will see Dad again one day and I must rest in that fact.
Sorry, I did not mean to get off on this tangent, it's just all goes together in one basket (Fall, MK's birth, Dad's death, etc.) - I hope one day to have it all separate in my head, but for now, it's together and I am trying hard to get past it.

Yes, I feel very strange blogging - it's been too long. Honestly, I did it most at work on lunch or something - it was a great release every day to blog and then they took our ability away and now I am left to taking time away from my family to blog - not really something I am fond of doing but I am going to attempt to do it more.
I am going to throw photos in here along the way today.
Macy Kate got her first boo-boo this weekend - she and Daddy and cousin Drake were playing chase and she ran right into our bed rail and actually took a small piece out of the wood with her tooth! It bled and bled and was discolored for two days but seems to be healing now. It was scary though!

This last week we had a get together with Doug' Aunt, Uncle and cousins. They are from Aiken, SC but two of them live far away with their baby and they are missionaries - they are amazing people to do this! I am way to anal and schedule oriented to go all over but that's why God has not called me to that field :-)
Here's a shot of the cousins and their spouses and kids - poor Sandy had to be alone since Kenny could not make it. And there is another picture here of the kids on the swing - it took A LOT to get this photo!!

Let's see, what else has been going on. We went and reserved the place at the park for MK's 1st birthday party - it will be lady bug themed, I can't wait! Here's a photo of the covered pavilion. We will have pizza and just hang out and enjoy the memories of her being born. I can not believe she will be one soon!! I have lots of great things in mind for her party - probably all overboard but whatever...it's her very first birthday....it's a big deal :-)
Going to put a few more photos on here - some from this weekend of her standing alone for the first time. Hard to believe she will be walking in no time!
What else has been going on? Hmm...well, not a ton. We have had my nephew from Houston here for a few weeks, he has mainly been at my sister's but we have enjoyed him some. We had Allie over for a weekend recently - will post some of those photos at the end. We have mainly just been enjoying our family time and hanging out - nothing huge to report :-) I promise to get on here again REALLY soon!! I miss you all! I do everyone's every day - work will let me read them, just not comment on them or post on mine - it stinks! I need to find a new blog way! HA!! Please check my facebook, I have lots of photos on there and will email our videos from time to time too. I'll try posting a small one on here - just takes so long to upload.

That's Macy Kate! She has the world's fastest flip when you are trying to change her diaper! She got away from Daddy here but she has gotten away from everyone - she is FAST and STRONG!

She will act like she is just going to stretch and then before you know it she is on the other side of the room and you are holding an empty diaper going "Wait a minute!" :-)

Well, I have not blogged in a while and my new idea is to blog AT LEAST once a week - maybe like the paper with coupons, you all can know when to check in once a week to get the good stuff :-)

Macy Kate is 8 months old today - amazing! In 4 short months we will celebrate her 1 year birthday, and some days is has flown by so fast and other days we sit around and say "WHAT did we do before her?!" :-)

She has 2 teeth now and is working on more and she is ALL over the place! She is like a tornado...a ball of activity in a room - she NEVER stops moving! I guess I am glad because most of the time she sleeps like a rock and this is probably why, but it makes for a very tiring day sometimes - but we would not trade it for anything!

She is "talking" more and more and making her presence know for sure! She stops people everywhere we go with her killer smiler...she can really get the attention!

She only likes to be held for small amounts of time and then she wants down to go, go, go! She is starting to learn to give kisses and she will spit her paci out if you tell her to - it's funny!!

I am not off on every Friday anymore but I am taking random days off here and there and we are spending great time together! She is really one of the smiliest babies I have ever known!

We are going to Houston at the end of this month and I can't wait to see her and the twins together now that they are bigger and more active - hopefully she won't walk all over them! HA!

Coupon Craze!

Let the coupon clipping begin!! We have begun our "stockpile" and for two weeks in a row we have saved almost $40 on groceries - not bad for a start! We are building up things in the pantry and we are building up our coupons too - I made my coupon book last week. I think we will get the hang of it soon and see HUGE savings! It has totally changed the way we think about buying things! It's addicting!

Cousin Logan came by last week and we took them down to our little park in their wagon and they looked so cute!! We played at the park some and then came back and put them both in the tub for some fun pics! Well, as some of you may know, my work has blocked a ton of websites so I am unable to comment on any blogs or update mine - I can read them, but that's about it. It really puts a damper on my blog life :-) I love updating myblog and it's been too long!
Since I last posted, Macy Kate turned started crawling, she turned 7 months old, I celebrated my very first Mother's Day, and I turned 36....A LOT has happened!

Let's start with luv bug crawling.....She started slowly but once she got the hang of it, she is now a force to be reckoned with! I will attach a video here, with some other photos. (I have a hard time getting photos to go in the order I want so they will more than likely be all out of order! HA!)

She is JUST about to get two bottom teeth and how cute she will be when those come in!
She tuned 7 months old on the 7th and is on her way to 8 months old...WHERE does the time go! I am already thinking about her 1st birthday! My Mom is planning to come to town and it will be so fun! Many emotions will be coming out....Dad will not be here and it will be bitter sweet to celebrate her turning one but without him here. I am planning on a lady bug theme - already found an outfit I want to get made.
Okay, back to the other stuff - my 1st Mother's Day was FANTASTIC!! Doug made it so special! He made me breakfast and MK had the sweetest card for me an d we dedicated her at church that day - what a PERFECT day to dedicate your baby to God! I'll put some pics on here of that too. We had a great lunch with family/friends and then we enjoyed a Sunday afternoon at home and Doug made dinner.

Then I had my 36th birthday - not too amazing...just on my way to 40! HA! Doug made breakfast and was so sweet to me and we actually had a little date this last weekend.

So...that's about all that has gone on the last few weeks - just livin' our life and making memories :-) I'll attach various photos/a video here - enjoy and I promise to try and update again soon!

Macy Kate LOVES to be out in the yard with her Daddy! Doug has a true love for the yard/landscaping (guess it's something to do with his business! HA!) so he has already started putting that love in her - it's cute! She will be SO into whatever he is doing out there! He is already talking about getting her some gradening gloves and stuff for her birthday :-)
I can already see many a night in the fall of telling those two to come in for dinner and quit playing in the dirt! :-)

Pretty In Purple

A week or so ago we drove out to Buckhead for a drama performance of Allie's and the church it was at had these pretty flowers and this little bench and we had time to kill and a camera in hand....so what do you think I did? :-)

She looks so pretty in purple (thank you Laura...for the outfit - it's one of our favorite's!) and as always, she's a HAM for the camera!

There's a place by my work that does custom clothes and embroidery for kids and I only get to buy stuff there when it's on sale :-) The last time I was there they said a photographer was coming in to do some shots for fun and we could get a free 5x7 if we came in (the idea was to get you to buy clothes while there! Which worked because I had alreay bought the polka dot outfit but purchased the turquoise/brown dress while I was there that day!)

Well, I told Alisha about it so she could bring Logan too and we tried really hard to get a shot of the 2 of them together but we had no success until I had already taken her out of her special clothes and put her in her casual clothes but I was happy we got at least one!

I really like the shot of her in the pink & brown but the other one just does not capture her. It was good to get a few shots of her but honestly, I think I could have done better :-) But oh well, she is 6 months old and needed a "pro" shot or two so here they are :-)

Well, TRY and go at least :-) Macy Kate is trying SO hard to get somewhere - anywhere. She usually just ends up going backwards but it's not for lack of trying :-) Soon enough we'll be chasing her down, but for now it's fun to watch her get up on those toes like she is in the baby runners race! :-)

Easter Bunny visits & Christ has risen....is there anything better?

MK has NO clue what was going on Easter morning but she was still excited! :-)

We had a great morning with her and then went to an AWESOME service where my best friend sang like an angel "I Will Rise" - it was so beautiful!

Macy Kate was a little doll baby in her Easter "get up" - her purse was the real hit! Last minute Target dollar isle item! HA!!!

We went over to my in-laws' house after church and had a great time - my sister & brother-in-law and nephew came too - so it was one big family event. The food was great and the weather was PERFECT!

The best part of the day was knowing that we WILL rise one day to meet Jesus and because He died for us this is possible - what a gift!! I will rise to see my Dad one day and will sit with him & Jesus and sing praise songs - what a hopeful thing to have in my life!

Half of a year....what a gift from God!

My baby is 6 months old today - shocker!! I find myself sitting at work, typing this blog (yes, I know I should be working and I am, sort of) and also reading other blogs of people who mark today with six months or a year from the death of their baby and I find myself SO thankful for these last 6 months with Macy Kate - and every day that God chooses to have her in our lives. I don't know what I would do if we ever lost her but like these other people, we would lean on God and make it but we would never be the same. Isn't it breath taking how something so small can impact your life in such a HUGE way. I was a nanny for 3 years and I thought I knew what it meant to love a child - I would have done anything for Allie and Maddy and yet I still did not know the love I would have for my own child. It is something that oozes (is that a word?) out of me, and in turn, causes a wonderful ripple effect in every area of our life. I see Doug with her and I love him SO much more because of his love for her...I see what joy she brings to our family life and it brings me closer to my mother/father-in-law and makes me schedule time with them, for her....I hear the pure joy in my Mom's voice when she tells me she received a video or picture of MK and it made her day, and in turn I miss and love my Mom so much and am SO happy I can bring this joy into her life...I am brought closer to my sisters & sister-in-law & girl friends because I finally share this motherhood thing with them and it enriches my life to have them in it and us share this bond....it makes me thank God every day for her and for her health and brings me closer to our Creator and forces me to see a little bit of Him in everything, whereas before we were so focused on us....EVERY area of our life is made better by her presence and just think....she's only been here 6 months! :-)

In the last 6 months I have grown as a mom and a wife and a woman....I have a litte more patience (still working on this one! HA!), a LOT more love and a ton more to be thankful for. She has given me a new identity....I am a MOMMY...it's something I longed for growing up and I still look in the mirror when I have her in my arms and I can't believe she is mine...I am her Mommy...that will never change.

6 months ago today I was so out of it....I was begging for an epidural and asking "How much am I dilated now" and trying not to throw up - but still ended up throwing up! HA! I had my family & Doug's family in and out of the room supporting me....and my precious Dad offering to do whatever he could - UGH....I don't want to cry today over Dad but here I go:-) I will never forget that day - the memory of that whole time around her birth is wrapped around my Mom & Dad and them being here and the wonderful time I thank God we had together before his sudden death, because of Macy Kate. Also, because of her and the love I have for her Daddy, I had several people in the delivery room and that was not something I was sure about at the time but looking back on it I really did treasure that - it was perfect...everyone was wonderful to me and it is a memory that makes her coming into this world even better! God knew this little life that was about to be born would bring all of us together on that day - how awesome He is! Hard to believe that was only 6 months ago - feels like years on some days, but feel like just yesterday at times too. Little did I know, while they were "finishing me up", my Dad was downstairs giving everyone in the waiting room at Cobb Hospital a show of me giving birth - HA!! Intimate moment but he was so proud and excited, he just could not help himself! I miss that Dad - so proud, so technilogically advanced! HA!!!

In the last 6 months Macy Kate has changed so much! Amazing how much life can be in such a tiny body! She is so funny and SO happy - that is the #1 thing people say to us..."She is the happiest baby!" She smiles so much and just loves life and it loves her! She is sitting up so good and trying her best to crawl and I think once she gets on the move, we will be in for a new world because she will be a very active girl! Things she loves - She loves for us to sing to her, she LOVES to feel her Daddy's face, she loves when we go in together to get her out of bed, she loves to be outside, she loves to be rocked, she loves to sleep, she loves to eat, she loves her paci, she loves to watch people! She is just so much joy and fun and love all rolled into one adorable child!

We go for her 6 month check up next week and I can't wait to see what she weighs - my guess is 16 pounds. She is in 6-9 month clothes and seems long for her age. I have GOT to start scrapbooking her life - I don't want to just be getting started and she a year old! Every one of you know I take about 15 pictures of her a day so I have a ton to scrap! :-)

Long Time No Blog.....

Well, it's been FAR too long since I have blogged - I feel like a bad blogger :-)

Well, MK is about to be 6 months old - hard to believe but that blog is for 5 days from now :-)

This blog is just to update you on our life. Our Houston trip went good - was SO hard to go back "home" and not have Dad there. It all felt weird and just....wrong! Especially since my sister was getting married...Dad should have walked her down the aisle, not my nephew. The last time I went down Camp Creek Pkwy I had that sister in the car with me...headed back to Houston to burry my Dad. So when we headed to the airport for this trip, I went right back to that day - it was hard not to focus on that. God got me through it though - He was not surprised I felt this way...He was not surprised that I would be scared and nervous to fly back home..He knew what He was doing puting this wonder Christian woman in the seat next to me to take my mind off of it all!

Macy Kate was a total doll on the plane and everyone loved her. Flying without Doug is hard enough (I HATE to fly!!) so having her was a nice distraction! The stewardess had some fun with her since it was her first ever flight!

I'll attach a few pics here of our trip, overall. MK got to meet her cousins (usually referred to as..."the twins") and she just wanted to eat their faces! HA! She looked so adorable sandwiched in between them! We had a morning at a park to take some pictures of all my Mom's grandkids and that was great - everyone cooperated and we got some great shots! Macy Kate got a little cold while there but she is doing much better now.

She is sitting up like a pro these days and eating anything you try and feed her! She offically eats "breakfast" and "dinner" and we'll soon throw in "lunch" - have to transition, it's hard! Need to go over it in detail with Dr. Cantrell at her 6 month checkup. I feel like she will have a tooth or two any day now - we'll see! She is getting up on her hands and knees too and she gets very annoyed when she can't GO :-) TIME to babyproof!!

My Daddy's Face...There's Nothing Like It!

Macy Kate LOVES her Daddy's face!! I think it's the rough beard at the end of the day or something, but she never touches my face the way she does his - it's adorable! It's the first thing she reaches for when she sees him! She even rubs his face or his ear when he feeds her - she never does that to me! They have a very special bond and I love it!!!

I love that as she grows up, she will look to him for guidance and love and she will find it - something I did not have until I was 15 and my Mom met my step-dad who I feel like was my real Dad. Macy Kate will get the Daddy I never had - and that makes my heart leap with joy!

He will teach her all about plants and about geography (I am terrible at this where things are in the world!) and about Notre Dame football and about Jesus' love for her! I can't wait to see their bond grow over the years and one day see him in tears, giving her away at her wedding to the PERFECT man...he will have to be perfect for Doug to allow her to marry him! HA! So we're praying for that man even now! :-)

I just love to see their love for each other - it's overwhelming at times!

Are these not the cutest boys you have ever seen?? After next week, you will see pics of them with an even cuter little girl "smushed" between them! HA!! Macy Kate and I are going to Houston for my sister's wedding. We will be there Thurs. to Sun. and we can not wait! Everyone is anxious to see all three babies together! Imagine sweet pink things between them!!

MK turned 5 months on Saturday - it is so hard to believe!! She is just so precious! She is the funniest, happiest baby I have ever known - so thrilled to just BE in our presence! She might be such a fun baby that she will trick us into having #2 at some point and then we will get a holy terror of a child probably! HA!! But we will still love them!

She is now eating more variety and she loves baby food! She is also very close to being able to sit and she loves to roll over and bite on her bottom li pand make a "fart" sound :-) Here's a few pictures from the day she turned 5 months old!

FINALLY - a dry night of tummy sleeping!

Well, if you have not heard, MK now refuses to sleep unless she is on her tummy! She has perfectly the roll over and now, as soon as you lie her down, she's over to her tummy for a snug night of sleep. Only problem is....she leaks out of her diaper like that! No clue why, but she does.

The last two days I have gone to get her up and the front of her pj's are wet and she is literally lying in pee soaked sheet - I feel AWFUL! I barely slept the last night hoping she was dry and comfy up there. Obviously it does not bother her at all because she sleeps great but as a concerned new Mommy, I hated to think of her up there, wet.

Night #1 I was shocked and upset...Night#2 I tried a big post-delivery pad I had left over, in her diaper 0 I know, funny! Well, this didn't work either! Night#3 I had to find a solution! We have always been BIG fans of Pampers (swaddlers to be exact) and she even leaked out of some Huggies at nap time one day at my sister's, so....when someone at work told me to try Huggies Overnights when she began to leak on her tummy, I was a bit skeptical. But we tried it and it worked!!! I was SO happy when I went up there this morning and she way dry! That diaper was SO full but she was dry - I was one happy Mommy!

I highly suggest these if you have a leaker on your hands all of the sudden!

My first "Mommy & MK" Friday

Well, I am only a week late posting this (and don't ask how late I am at posting to MK's site with letters to her....at this point she has missed a few months of her life! Poor girl!) but better late than never.

Last Friday was my first of 3 months of Fridays off, and I absolutely loved it! It was very cold so we stayed in other than to go to the doctor - she had been congested but she ended up being fine.

I loved sleeping in a little and getting her up and just playing with her in her PJ's and loving on her all day long!

It was so nice to not have to take off work and just relax and enjoy the day with her - no matter where we were!

She smiled a lot so I think she liked her day with Mommy too! I plan to make her a little scrapbook of "Fridays with Mommy" later!

After finishing some laundry last night, we sat MK in the basket and she sat up so good and looked so cute! At first she looked at us like "What the heck?" then she just sat there and played! HA!! She is just so cute...and notice her Notre Dame outfit - Daddy loved it!

I am a total sucker and I ordered a hot pink tu-tu from a website for a little girl I do not even know - BUT.....after reading about her you will have your heart strings pulled at too and you will go home and hug and kiss your baby like I did! She died very suddenly from cancer and a website called Etsy has people who make things by hand and are donating the proceeds to Cora's family for a playground to be built in her name. Plus....every little girl NEEDS a tu-tu (my Mom agrees!) so how could I say no? So here's a few shots of her in her new Cora Paige Tu-Tu! :-)

This is Luke & Levi - my nephews - adorable!!! I can't wait to get Macy Kate in between them next month! I can not even imagine two of Macy Kate - how fun and overwhelming all at the same time! But if anyone can handle twins, it's my sister - she is super-woman in the form of a "regular Mom" :-) These boys love her to death, as to her other 6 kids (don't freak out just yet - only 4 other ones LIVE at their house!) - a house full of love and noise! HA!!!
They have 3 older brothers and 3 older sisters and lots of people to lean on as they grow up! Oh, did I mention in the midst of all this my sister breast feeds them - she truly is super woman! I could not even manage to BF ONE let alone TWO!
My Dad died shortly after these boys (and Macy Kate) were born but he is surely watching all three of them from heaven and getting a big laugh at how cut they all are! And how BALD they all are! HA!! Why can't any of our children be born with hair?!
Soon you will see all 3 babies in a photo together (many photos, I'm sure!) and THAT will be a site to see!!

Well, today is our wedding anniversary - 3 years today. It feels like longer at times :-) In a good way though! We met at the best place ever - church! I love that we met at FBCPS, and married there and are still there with our child...sort of came full circle! I remember seeing him that first Sunday he visited our singles class and thinking "WOW - a cute boy WITH a Bible in hand and matching socks....SHOCK OUT!" :-) We had a very small singles class and I was convinced I would never meet Mr. Right there. I told my sisters he would basically have to come knock on my door because I worked as a nanny and never met any single men and there were "none" at my church, or so I thought! The Good Lord had other plans! :-) It started with just flirting and talking and then we really connected one night at a New Year's Eve party (thanks Tiff!!) and sat and talked for hours. After that...it was just a matter of time! We were certainly in love by Spring and engaged by summer (July 10th to be exact!) and married the following February 18th. So basically he already had me hooked before we went through our first Notre Dame football season together - I couldn't turn back once I saw how obsessed he was! HA!! Actually, I love that he is an Irish fan - it's one of the things I fell in love with about him...his passion for this team. He throws his whole heart into it and I knew if he could do that for a football team he never even played for....SURELY he can throw that sort of passion into our marriage! And sure enough, he has! I love that he makes our coffee every day and he makes sure I don't have to carry too many things to the car and I don't have to fill up my own gas. I love that he loves God and wants to be a Godly husband and father. He takes care of me in so many ways and I think I don't tell him enough about the small things I love. I love how he gives me kisses in the air (too hard to explain!) and how he hugs me all the time and how he tells me he loves me 20 times a day! I hope he has things that I do that make him feel loved too - I want Macy Kate to see those things in us and when she grows up I want her to remember it like this "My Mom and Dad were always so in love with each other - it was sick!" :-) I want to be such a great example of how a Godly husband and wife should be. I still love to hold his hand and I hope that never fades away - I know we have to work on it and we will! I remember planning our wedding and being so into all the details and things and now I look back and it was such a tiny part of our marriage...the wedding. It's just a show, something for others..but the marriage is for us and it has to last forever. The only way to make this happen is to have God in the center and that's something we work at every day. 3 years ago today I was so giddy and excited to become Mrs. Harmon - I remember standing at those stairs, waiting for my Dad to come get me to walk down the isle....wow, this makes me miss my Dad too!....I remember feeling like I was going to pass out...THIS was it...our life as ONE was about to begin! I will never forget that day or how I felt and how much I THOUGHT I loved him then and how it pales in comparison to how much more I love him every day since! Little did I know how much MORE I would fall in love with him when I saw him with our daughter! His love for her and hers for him makes my heart melt!! I know that love will grow in years too and I smile just at the thought of being "old" and in love still! How fun! On Friday Doug was going to stop by Wal-Mart for something and I said "Grab Macy Kate a Valentine's balloon" - I felt guilty because it was her first Valentine's Day and we had not bought her anything. Well, if any of you know my husband, you know he is....well, let me say it nicely....FRUGAL! So, he said "Uh....yeah", as in "I don't really want to buy that" but I told him "Come on, she will love a balloon and she deserves one" - so I figured he would come home with some lame 79cent pink balloon. He did not....He came home with a HUGE $5 balloon! It was so cute! He said "It says what I call her.....Love Bug...how could I resist?" - he is such a sucker for her and I love it!

Macy Kate's cousin, Logan, is almost exactly one year older than her. He loves to squeeze her and love on her and then quickly push her away when he is "done" with her! It's pretty funny! Right after I snapped this photo, he gave her a big shove off his lap!

This weekend we told him to kiss her and he leaned in for the big one - YIKES....you kids are related...you can't kiss like that!!

Much better this time! Even though she still looked at me like "What is this?!", she did not cry, so that's good! She still seems like she could do without it but maybe with time she will act like she welcomes it. You will notice she does not have a bib on for this because she FREAKS out when you put a bib on her, thinking she is about to get a bottle. So...we have to do without a bib! HA!!

She received her 1st Valentine in the mail from Grammy - She was quite into it! :-) I can't wait for the day when she picks out what kind of Valentines she wants us to buy and asks us to help her fill them out - I remember the days of decorating a bag to hang on the chalkboard tray and hoping to get lots of Valentines in it! I know Macy Kate will get a ton!

She is really starting to reach for things and if you are holding something, she wants to hold it too!

Yep - she is 4 months old now! Man, how time flies!!!

She will have her 4 month check up today and I can't wait to see what she weighs! My bet is 12 and a half, at least!

I took some photos of her this weekend and will share those here. She is now rolling from her tummy to back and very close to rolling from her back to tummy. She is surely going to cut some teeth soon and she loves to chew on her bottom lip now! She loves to squeal and talk and her smile can light up a room!! She doesn't have hardly any hair but what she has on her eyebrows...she rocks! :-) She can give the funniest looks and she just loves life!

Dear Dad,

Today you are celebrating your birthday with your creator - how awesome that must be! As much as we miss you here, I know you are with Jesus every day and your life is still being celebrated! Doug and I brewed some Folgers today - just for you! Our house smelled like yours & Mom's and I wanted to cry! One the way to work I listened to a classis rock station just for you - I wanted to cry. When I got to work I opened up my Facebook account and saw some old pictures Drake uploaded of you yesterday and I DID cry...it's a sweet cry though...a cry that tells me that I wish I would have cherished your life more when you were here. The last time I saw you was for Macy Kate's birth and things were so hectic and we were all busy and as usual...I barely spent any quality time with you. Oh how I regret that! As always, I thought "Well, I'll see him again soon" but I didn't. On other birthdays I have always sent a gift late or called Mom and said "I have no clue what to get him!" and she would say "Oh, just send him a card and call him, he will be thrilled with that!" - and you were! You were such a simple man and we took that for granted a lot of times and what I wouldn't give today to pick up the phone and call you and hear you say a whole bunch of nothing :-) I know God wanted you home on Nov. 12th and that is why we are sad today but so happy that we knew you and were loved by you. Never before had I felt the love of a father like I did from you! It is something I cherish and want Doug to have with Macy Kate - that unconditional love for me and for my Mom - priceless!! On this day, your birthday, I want to say I love you so much and always will and my heart breaks for Mom and the pain she has felt with your loss - but as always, she is the strongest woman I know (and you know too!) and she will make it through and we are all here to help her. But I know, in my heart of hearts, she has days (like we all do) where she weeps and just wants one more hug, one more touch, one more laugh with you - one more moment to treasure such a wonderful man!

Soon we will all be "home" for Taunya & Kyle's wedding and just like today, walking into that house and not having you there will be a reminder that you are truly gone from this earth. I think living away it feels like it always did...Dad is at home, drinking coffee and playing computers and I don't feel the loss day to day like they probably do. But then days like today come and I want to call you and wish you Happy Birthday and am suddenly hit with the realization that you are not here to call. You are not here to see Macy Kate's latest video or help us with our computer problems or take Mom to the doctor and patiently wait for her and help her in and out.....you are not here.....and that is sad.

If you were here today, I would call you and chat for a moment and at the end, you would say "I love you" and I would shiver...like I always did...that you would tell me that so openly and show us your love so strongly - it felt awesome!

My little girl hears about you all the time Dad - last night I did something probably weird to some people...I got out the blanket with your picture on it and put her on it and took some pictures - it was like you were with her and it made me feel good!! I will attach the picture here. She will always know about you Dad - there's a tribute to you in her room and even when I look at it now, I can not believe you are gone. Like Taunya said in her letter to you....I am frequently taken back to that day when we learned of your death and the grief overcomes me and I want to fall to the floor and say "NO! NO! NO! - How can it be!" but I have to pick myself up and go on with life and just remember you in every day things. God is helping us all through this Dad, and He knew that we would pull together in this time as we have always done. We miss you so much and will never forget the impact you had on our lives FOREVER. I LOVE YOU!

How can she be 3 months old already?

My baby is 3 months old today - how can that be? I had some post-partum depression, then my Dad died, then all the holidays rushed past us and here I am, back at work and missing her terribly and she is already 3 months old. Does not seem possible!

Leaving her today was the hardest so far - I just feel like I don't have a baby during the week, it really stinks! I am so thankful that she is with family but I just wish it were different and I could stay home. She smiles so much when we wake her up at 6am but basically I just change her diaper and put her in the car seat. The best part of her day is spent with someone else....how is this fair? I think every Mommy should get to stay home - can't the government make this happen? HA!!

Please pray for me - I am having a really hard time being away from her every day! Look at this face....could YOU leave her? :-)

Daddy makes something his Grandma passed down (he called her Ba-Ba) - they are called Doo-Doo Balls :-) He says they are yummy but I am not convinced...I don't like raisins or dates. So New Years Day he made his traditional thing and this year he had some help!! :-)

Her 1st Christmas

Well, she had NO clue it was Christmas but she still enjoyed it! :-) She was a good girl all 12 weeks of her life so far so Santa came to see her! HA!

Doug and I were both off work from Dec. 24th through January 4th and we LOVED IT! We spent every day with her, just soaking her up! I can't tell you how much I love her! She is so precious and SUCH a good baby!

Christmas Eve we went to the Harmons' for our traditional dinner/opening gifts night - it was great! Macy Kate was so good even though she was passed around a lot. Christmas Day we had our morning with her and then went for breakfast at Doug's uncle's house and then lunch at my sister's house and we just chilled out at home that night. Day 3 at work and it's slow here so I find myself missing Macy Kate even more. Just in time...Tammy comes to the rescue with pictures!

Isn't it funny how your child looks so different when someone else is taking a picture of them? Seems as though she has changed since I dropped her off this morning! I know she hasn't, but it seems that way.

She apparently is perfectly fine without me :-) Which is a good thing! She is a very happy baby and her skin is finally clearing up so I plan to take some cute naked shots of her this weekend.

When I look at her I still see Doug mainly but other say they see me so who knows. All I know is....I see love! :-)

Well, these last 10 weeks have FLOWN by! They have been both joyous and heart breaking all at once. It's strange how much you can change in 10 weeks - I feel like I head back to work a completely different person than when I left. I am now a Mommy and someone who has lost her Dad - both huge events in a short amount of time.
Yesterday was my first day back and I felt like a fish out of water - everything felt so foreign and like I was just visiting for the day! HA! Well, today is day two and it's becoming real that life at work, away from my baby, will be hard. I cried this morning when dropping her off at my sister's house - last night came and went so fast as far as our time with her. I sit and wait all day to see and hold her and then it goes so fast and it's the next day before we know it and we are dropping her off again and away from her once again. Ahhh....to have the weekends! :-)
I know it will get easier with time but for now it's very odd to be here. Everyone is great here though, but I still miss her.

Well, my twin nephews are here and adorable! My poor sister...she discovered that you do not get two for the price of one! She has to pay two co-pays everytime they go to the doctor...who knew!! Two of this, two of that, etc - these boys are costly - good thing they are SO cute! I love you Luke & Levi!

For those of you who have not heard, my Dad died suddenly on Nov. 12th and it's still hard to believe we will not see him again in this life. Macy Kate was lucky to meet him but she will never truly KNOW him and that breaks my heart.

It's been a month and I look around and see people going on with their lives and it feels so wrong - a piece of ours is missing and it will never be the same, how can we just move on. I know this is part of grieving but it just seems like life is moving in slow motion now.

Please continue to pray for our family as we heal from this huge event and we look to God to fill that void.

She decided to come on her own - no induction necessary :-)

My water broke at 9:30pm, Monday, Oct. 6th and we headed to the hospital...slowly but surely. They checked me and said "Yep, you're a keeper!" and we headed to our room where I would labor for the next 13 hours or so. I got my epidural (after begging!) at 7:30am and she made her way into this world at 12:45pm sharp. 7lb 2oz and 19 1/4 inches long - and absolutely perfect! Here's a few shots from those first moments.

Apparently she will be stubborn, like her Mommy, and may just be forced out of her old home soon. We will go in Tuesday night at 7pm to start induction if she doesn't change her mind before then and come on.
The thought of going in and everything being controlled tomorrow night is a nice thought but then again having some fun going into labor story would be fun too - I'm torn! Come tomorrow night at 7 I will have no choice :-)
Doug and I are both so excited and just can not believe it will be within days, no matter what. FINALLY! Nana Pat is here and everyone one and everything is in place....we just want to meet her!
I had a few contractions at church yesterday and through the day but nothing consistent, so who knows.
Any last minute advice we need????

She is comfy in there....no sign of emerging!

Well here we go....the start of my 40th week is here. So many feelings - anxious, nervous, excited, impatient......I think the "unknown" is the most annoying part but yet somewhat fun too - strange, I know :-)

I had to get a haircut yesterday, just too much to deal with. Hoping to make it to Friday for a mani/pedi and then Nana Pat will be here and we're all set come Saturday evening - AFTER the Notre Dame/Stanford game of course :-)

Macy Kate has been super active the last few days so who knows what she is thinking. Doug and I just can't wait to SEE her in person and take it all in. To think it's within a week or so is amazing! I go to the doctor tomorrow at 2 and hopefully will be dilated past 1, which I was last week. They will schedule an induction for the following week, just in case!

So.....Wish us luck.....We are on high alert and VERY ready!

2am....Awake and Emotional....

I wake up a lot lately at night, and am sometimes just wide awake from 2 to 4am. JOY! Last night I woke up and got to thinking about things and started crying randomly - I am SO emotional lately :-)

I was thinking about Macy Kate coming so soon and about how I went to have lunch with Allie at Kindergarten yesterday and how excited she was to see me. I felt so special! Then I thought about how one day that will be my daughter and then I thought about how when Allie happily waived bye to me and hugged me and said "I wish you could come to dinner at my house tonight!" that this was probably the last time I will see her before the baby comes. That in itself was sad for me - I don't see her often now that she has school and I miss her. Then I got to thinking that once Macy Kate comes, I know I will still love Allie to death (Maddy too) but I have never loved a child as much as I feel like I could love my own, other than Allie, and now that place in my heart will be taken up by Macy Kate because she will be my own daughter. Which is fine and I am thrilled about loving her and having a child but it's sort of sad to have that part of my life (with Allie) change that way. I got to thinking about how I hope she remembers our special bond later in life and not just remember Nonny was in her life and now I have babies of my own, etc. Does that make sense? I want her to remember those special years where I soaked up every piece of her and she and I had this great bond - BEFORE children of my own. I want her to know that I am dying to be a Mommy because of her - because she showed me this huge love that comes from taking care of a child. SHE is the reason I am so excited about having a daughter and I think of Allie every time I walk into Macy Kate's room (mainly because it is Allie's stuff! HA! But I also just think about when she was a baby). I know she will be grown one day and will know I had a part in her early years but I don't know if she will ever truly know how much I love her and how much of an impact she had on my life of wanting to be a Mommy.

I think I will write Allie a letter soon explaining how special she is to me and when she gets older she can read it and know what a special time in my life that was for me. I want her and Maddy to know they will always be a part of my life! Then I got to thinking about how time flies by so fast and how Allie has grown up so fast and I know I will feel that way about my children and miss them being babies, etc. - I know....WAY beyond what I need to be focusing on right now but I found myself lying there at 2am crying and missing Allie and missing this baby inside of me that I have yet to meet:-) I drifted off to sleep about 3:30 wondering....Am I normal?

19 Days left and we had to do a trial run!

Went to the hospital yesterday for what I guess was a trial run! HA! I had contractions all day - just very mild ones - but did not feel her move for many hours and that is what concerned them. So I went up there and they monitored her and of course she started moving once I got there :-) So we went on home and I had a dr. appt today - they did check me but nothing is going on "down there" :-) So, for now, my bun is still baking!

Doug and I had fun taking these - I took them on a timer and it was pretty funny! We took them up in her room - he wanted a few with the pink football which I thought was a cute idea! I felt SO huge (and was so upset my wedding ring doesn't fit for these photos!) but he was so sweet and kept complimenting me the whole time - he is so excited and ready for this baby girl to arrive and turn his life upside down - me too! 3 weeks from today is the due date....

I think she has dropped! I can finally sit up and breathe and I just feel her lower. This is neat and scary - this means she's getting "into position"! When Doug or I press on her now, she presses back - HA! I think she is syaing "Hey you two...I don't have much space in here that's mine, so back off!" :-)

Alisha and I were in Publix this weekend (getting ice cream and apple pie but that is besides the point!) and some bagger dude asked me if I was having twins. I nicely said "Nope, just one", so then he said "Oh no, you are having two" and I again, nicely, said "No, I'm sure, just one". He proceeded to keep talking.....IDIOT! He said "No, I think two" and at this point I was about to cry and we grabbed our bags and started to walk off and I said "Bye" and he said, as we departed, "Well then that's ONE BIG BABY!" - I wanted to run back in and say "Do you see me....9 months pregnant and here to buy ice cream and pie....do you think I care what YOU think? NO!!" - I should have gone Preggo on him (get it....instead of postal....preggo!) :-) UGH....some people just don't know when to hush!!!

Well, I attempted to take a few belly shots of myself last week. Here they are - nothing major, just something to remember this time by. I feel SO huge these days! I will try and take a few of Doug and I over the next week. I so wish I could see in there and look at her.....soon enough!

Well, all my fun and wonderful baby showers are over and we got so many great things - we are truly blessed by the gracious people in our lives! I will post some new pics from this last one at my work Friday - we received a ton of great items and our pack-n-play, which I was excited about!

We proceeded to put it together with Grammy & Papa Friday night and that was a hoot! Those things don't come with good instructions!

Macy Kate has really grown over the last 2 weeks and sitting up straight is not an option for me anymore :-) She does crazy rolls in there and loves to "high five" Daddy when he puts his hands on there and talks to her! He said he wanted to learn the words to "You are my sunshine" the other day - it melted my heart! He will be such an awesome Daddy!

The waiting game of when/how/where will labor start is fun but also so nerve racking! I know she will come in God's perfect timing but it being the one thing you have no way of planning is so bizarre!

I will write more later and post the pics of the last shower.

Will I ever sleep soundly again?

Well, starting my 34th week and the sleep situation is only getting worse :-) I know what you're thinking.....this is preparing me for Macy Kate's arrival....but come on...really...why can't you get some good sleep right before your life is about to change forever!

I have about 5 pillows I rearrange about 10 times a night - I used to think poor Doug but he says he never even hears me get up and down..so I guess I need to make more noise so that he isn't sleeping quite so good! HA!

At least when she gets here it will be something fun/loving to get up for...for now...it's just potty time and trying to get comfy with this watermelon belly everyone says is so cute! :-)

But I am convinced...it will ALL be worth it soon!

It's pretty much done - a few more items to hang or wash but we mainly just need to insert her into her beautiful room to complete it! I can't say how thankful and blessed we are for having all the things given/handed down to us to make her room what it is. And I must say I am very proud of the Humpty wall and am so glad I was able to pull it off!

Emotional wreck

Well...I am middle of my 33rd week and just an emotional wreck :-) I'm sure Doug is thinking "Will this ever end?" - HA! I cry easily and feel so huge and am just SO ready to meet our baby and be done with being an incubator :-) I am putting our Shutterfly link on here of our latest shower pics and will add some from work when I have that one next week. We have been SO blessed to have so many things handed down and given as gifts to us - we have some wonderful people in our lives!
I have washed all her laundry (MANY loads!) and have sterilized her bottles and paci's and am beginning to "nest" and clean out closets, etc. I will pack her bag for the hospital this weekend and will probably pack mine & Doug's in the next two weeks. I am so ready for her to be here but then again want her to come precisely on October 5th or later so my Mom can be here :-) Pray for that!
